Christine Jayne Woodruff, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. She was 74 years old.

Born on January 9, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, Christine was the second of seven children born to Dr. Philip and Virginia Monnig. From an early age, her sharp intellect and love of learning were evident. She excelled in her studies, eventually earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Creighton University. It was through Creighton friends that Christine was set up on a blind date with Mark, who would become her devoted husband for over 42 years.

Christine’s career doing actuarial work showcased her brilliance and analytical mind, but her greatest joy came in raising her two children, Matthew and Kelly. She dedicated herself fully to their upbringing, stepping away from her professional career to be an ever-present and engaged parent. She volunteered at their school, chauffeured them to countless activities, and made every milestone special. Christine had a gift for making childhood magical— gifting the most enviable party favors at every birthday, and making the best puppy chow at every school bake sale.

Beyond her devotion to family, Christine was a woman of kindness, humor, and quiet strength. She faced life’s challenges with resilience and grace, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. She and Mark shared a love for travel and spent some of their happiest moments together in their favorite places—Longboat Key, Nantucket, and Okoboji. Christine and Mark were also passionate Creighton Bluejay basketball fans, never missing a game and proudly cheering on their team.

Christine is survived by her husband, Mark; children, Matthew and Kelly; siblings; many dear friends and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
