Christopher A. “Chris” McCarthy

July 6, 1966 – December 25, 2020

Chris was born July 6th, 1966, in Lexington, NE to Cornelius “Neil” and Rosemary (Lauby) McCarthy. As a child Chris loved the frequent camping trips they took with extended family and friends.  Chris attended Norfolk and Scottsbluff High Schools.  Daughter Kristina was born in 1983.  After several years of traveling, Chris moved to Omaha in 1991.  He began working for West Corporation in 1999 and continued with them and their successor, Alorica, until his passing.  Chris loved his job and the many amazing colleagues he worked with and learned from along the way.

In 2010 Chris married his boyfriend of 6 years, Jimmy, in Okoboji, IA. Together they built an amazing life, continuing to travel and camp with family and friends, especially enjoying summer weekends in Okoboji.  Chris had a passion for cooking and loved experimenting in the kitchen. Chris and Jimmy forged close relationships with good friends at their favorite hangout, “Moe’s” and found lots of love with their many rescued dogs and cats over the years.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Rosemary; daughter, Kristina; brother, Robert; sister, Christine; and nephew, Tyler.

He is survived by his husband, James “Jimmy” (Victor) McCarthy of Omaha; brother, Jerry and sister-in-law, Lori McCarthy of Blair; sister, Trueline McCarthy of Lexington; nephews, Mason and Evan McCarthy; nieces: Dominique McCarthy, and Celia and Adeline Gitt.  Additional survivors include parents-in-law, Tom and Joan Victor of Axtell; sister-in-law, Jennifer Gitt and husband Eric of Omaha, as well as many amazing aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family and friends.  He will also be missed by the dogs, his “good boys” Sammy and Max.

A visitation reception will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4117 Terrace Dr. in Omaha, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8th. Additionally, a celebration of life and toast to Chris will be held at Moe & Curly’s Pub, 2946 N. 108th St. on Saturday, January 9th at 4 p.m.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Chris’s family. You’re in our thoughts and prayers. Chris’s grandmother, Frances, was a Mohatt and a sister to my father, William X. Mohatt.

Chris was a highly skilled Business Analyst, a hard working team member and a very nice individual. I always enjoyed working with Chris while at work in West Corporation and Alorica. Chris always found us answers whenever we needed his assistance. I am sure Chris will be dearly missed by the ones who knew him personally or had worked with him. I have wonderful memories working with Chris in the same team and my sincere sympathy goes out to his family members and close friends. Rest in peace, Chris!
