Christopher Dean Kotulski was born on August 16, 1970 and died on April 24, 2018 at the age of 47. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Gary Kotulski, and his beloved pup, Daisy. Chris is survived by his partner, Mary Callaghan, and their son, Everett Dean Kotulski; parents, Valerie and Richard Covalciuc; sisters, Jennifer Kotulski and Tina Covalciuc; aunts and uncles; two nieces and one nephew; many cousins and a tribe of devoted friends. A memorial service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or may be directed to the family.
Chris grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating from Bellevue West High School, he was a nomad for many years, following the Grateful Dead and making friends wherever he went. It was in Eugene that he found his tribe and his true love, Mary. When Everett was born, their family was complete.
Chris had many passions, including glass blowing, cooking, communing with nature and camping. Although he was an avid follower of Chicago sports, his loyalty to the Nebraska Cornhuskers was monumental and unwavering as reflected in much of his apparel. When his son was born, Chris found his greatest joy in being a father. An amazing Dad, Chris embraced fatherhood with patience, laughter, and unapologetic pride.
Chris had an incredible capacity for love which he lavished freely on everyone who crossed his path. No one in need was ever turned away, and his hugs were legendary. With his rare ability to bring out the best in people, Chris was a trusted mentor, advisor, and touchstone for so many of us who will carry Chris in our hearts always. “LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…YES, YES, YES!”
