Cindy (Jones) Leiferman

LEIFERMAN, Cindy (Jones) Jan 12, 1962 – Aug 22, 2013 Cindy Jones Leiferman, age 51, passed away August 22, 2013 in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by her cherished family. Cindy was born January 12, 1962 in Ontario, Canada to Patricia and Edward Jones, and was raised in Omaha. A selfless and dedicated community volunteer for over 22 years, Cindy donated countless hours of leadership to numerous and varied community non-profit groups, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to support their causes. Some of the organizations which benefited from Cindy’s work were Completely Kids, the Omaha Children’s Theatre Board, Girls Inc., Make a Wish, Habitat for Humanity, the Omaha Symphony as Debutante Ball Chairman, Aksarben Coronation Women’s Ball Committee, Children’s Hospital, Lauritzen Gardens, Kicks for a Cure, and Westside High School. Cindy had a special interest in serving Omaha’s children, and through that work she founded the very successful “Pinot, Pigs and Poets” annual event for Completely Kids. In recognition of Cindy’s tireless work, Completely Kids created the Leiferman Leadership Award given annually in Cindy’s honor to recognize volunteers who exemplify those qualities Cindy gave of so generously. She also worked for seven years with the Kicks for a Cure event, serving as General Co-chairman the last two years. During her tenure, the Kicks for a Cure event significantly increased their revenues, with all proceeds staying in Omaha to benefit our local cancer research centers. In recognition of Cindy’s huge impact on Omaha, she was chosen as a 2013 WCA Tribute to Women honoree, and was also slated to be the 2013 Arthritis Society Woman of the Year. She lived her life making a difference. Even while undertaking all these accomplishments, her priority in life was to be the best wife, mother and friend. To that goal she was passionately devoted and achieved success beyond measure, being “that mom” who organized all her children’s team activities and “made things happen,” the one who initiated a celebration for someone’s achievement, and the first to be with a friend during a difficulty. In her very busy life, she made the time for others. Family and friends will always remember the delight, passion and energy Cindy brought to our world. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Edward L. Jones; grandmother, Johanna Burgess; grandmother and grandfather, Louise and Robert Wagner. She is survived by the love of her life, husband of 16 years, Brian M. Leiferman; children: Kaitlin M. Stemm, Shannon E. Stemm, and Brian M.
