Clara C. DeSciscio

DeSCISCIO-Clara C., age 91 years, of Ralston, NE, died after a brief illness on January 8, 2007 surrounded by the presence and love of her family. She was a devout Catholic and lived her faith by example throughout her entire life. Clara was born December 5, 1915 in Duluth, MN to Italian immigrants, Mary (Petoscia) and John Talarico. She was baptized, received her first communion and confirmation at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Duluth where she later married T. Donald DeSciscio on February 13, 1945. Clara and Don moved to Ralston from Duluth in 1956. Clara was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 373 and remained a member for 49 years. She was a founding member of St. Gerald’s Church in Ralston. She was an active member of the Omaha Volunteers for Handicapped Children for twenty years. She was an avid bowler and golfer, and in recent years enjoyed bridge and ceramics. Clara’s greatest pleasures came from being with family and friends. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 infant siblings, Mary, Joseph and Angeline; sister, Mary Angeline Johnson. She is survived by her son, Mark John (Janet) DeSciscio; daughter, Rita Anne VanFleet; brothers: Angelo Michael Talarico and Joseph Eugene (Lillian) Talarico; sister-in-law, Lorraine Marie Sullivan; brother-in-law, Daniel John DeSciscio; 5 grandchildren: Elise Marie (Scott) McHatton, Laura Renee (Wesley) Bates, Marc Donald (Beth) DeSciscio, David Michael DeSciscio, Anthony John DeSciscio; nieces and nephews: Mary Sullivan (James Schumacher), John (Christine) Sullivan, Jay Talarico, Beth (Ron) Kraml, Alan (Theresa) Talarico, Michael Talarico, Michael DeSciscio; adopted family, Daniel and MaryLou Smith; special cousin, Louise Molinero Rumple; many other loving family members and friends. Special thanks for the extension of deep compassion and sensitive caring given to Clara in the last few months of her life by Dr. Edwin Schafer, the Nebraska Medical Center Staff of the CPCU, Dr. Jeffrey Carstens, and the Hospice House – Josie Harper Residence Staff. Visitation with the family Thursday, 1/11/07 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the West Center Chapel. Vigil Service and Rosary Thursday, 6:30 p.m., West Center Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 1/12/07, St. Gerald Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Private interment. Luncheon to follow at church. Memorials to Father William Foster Endowment at St. Gerald Catholic Church; the American Cancer Society; or HospiceHouse-Josie Harper Residence.
