Claudia Marie Nigro
October 4, 1963 – March 14, 2024
Claudia Marie Nigro, age 60 years, of Omaha, NE. Beloved wife, mom, daughter, sister, and Granna passed away peacefully Thursday evening after courageously battling Multiple Sclerosis for 37 years.
Claudia was raised in Omaha, NE, and graduated from Bryan High School in 1982. After graduation, she continued working at Northwest Fabrics and Crafts until transitioning to a new position at American Business Information/info USA in September of 1983.
On March 10, 1984, she married Michael Louis Nigro, a blind date she had met the previous year. She spent 18 years working in information technology before retiring on August 29, 2000.
In 1987 Michael and Claudia were blessed with their oldest daughter, Valerie. Five years later came the youngest child, Amanda. Claudia was extremely family oriented and greatly enjoyed spending time traveling and being with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
Some of her travel highlights included numerous summers at Lake McConaughy, Boston, Massachusetts, and Orlando, Florida (where she was carried to the ocean). Before her MS progressed, she spent her free time baking, cooking, sewing, and being outdoors.
Claudia’s life was never defined by her progressive disease; she enjoyed countless opportunities and adventures. She always said “I’m convinced that God never gives you more than you can handle, but he sure has a funny sense of humor.”
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Michael; daughters, Valerie and Amanda (Ryan); sister, Rebekah (Jim); brothers, Timothy (Wanda) and John (Buffy); sister-in-law, Julie (Curt); brother-in-law, Edward (Susan); grandchildren, Michael and Amelia; numerous aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces/nephews; and many, many friends.
