Connie Mich-Vergata
February 5, 1926 – August 14, 2023
Preceded in death by husbands, Richard F. Mich, Fond du Lac, WI, and Sam J. Vergata, Omaha, NE; brothers, John and William Redel; sisters, Catherine Hron and Odelia Learch.
Connie is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Connie spent her adult life as a nurse. She graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Alverno College, also in Milwaukee. She also earned her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Nursing from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.
After the death of her husband, Richard, Connie moved from Wisconsin to Omaha, Nebraska. She married Sam J. Vergata in 1991. She was employed as a Mental Health Clinician at Immanuel Medical Center and as a Nursing Professor at The College of St. Mary. During her nursing career she was also Director of the Medical Assistant Program at Gateway College.
Connie continued to be active in nursing caring for the elderly, who required individual nursing care. She took special interest in assisting them through the dying process as they transitioned from this earth to eternal life.
After her retirement from nursing, she was employed by New Cassel Retirement Center as a Receptionist. She also worked part-time at Remington Heights as a Receptionist.
Connie was a member of Kappa Sigma Theta TAU, International Honor Society of Nursing and Pi Gamma Mu, National Honor Society of Science. She is listed in Who’s Who in America Society of Nursing and Who’s Who of Professional Women of America. She was Auxiliary Member of VFW Post 2503.
Connie was awarded the TAU Award from New Cassel Retirement Center, honoring her for providing excellent service above and beyond the normal daily requirements.
VISITATION: Sunday, August 20, 2023, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at the West Center Chapel, followed by a VIGIL SERVICE at 7:00 pm with a presentation by the Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard. MASS OF CHRITIAN BURIAL: Monday, August 21, 2023, 11:00 am, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 5419 N. 114th St. INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery.

Connie was a lovely
Connie was my boss as we taught future caregivers in the nursing profession as well as a dear friend.I house and puppy(Tuffy) sat for her and Sam. She was a gracious and great woman whose presence will be missed. I feel honored to have known her for so many years.
A kind, funny, very intelligent lady I was happy to know.
