Constance R. “Connie” Freeman

Constance R. “Connie” Freeman

February 29, 1944 – September 8, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Constance Freeman announces her passing on September 8, 2023 at the age of 79.  She will be remembered as a faithful servant as a Jehovah’s Witness where she gained many life-long friends.

Connie fell in love with Virgil Freeman for his good looks, great charm, and the promise of 100 kisses. Together they raised three children with whom they shared their faith, their enjoyment of family gatherings, and many family pets.

Connie showed her love through food—being a good cook, baker, and hostess, always keeping her candy dish full for guests.  Her wedding cakes were beautiful and helped many marriages off to a happy start.

Connie retired after 34 years of clerical service at Douglas County Hospital. Additionally, she touched many lives as a hairdresser, gardener, blanket maker, keeper of cherished family memories and heirlooms, and by beating anyone foolish enough to play her at cards, especially Rummy.

Connie is survived by best friend and love of her life, Virgil Freeman; children: Chuck Freeman (Chris), Cathy Brown (Curtis), Christine Schmidt (Scott; grandchildren: Michelle Carney (Robert), Katrina Freeman, Jonathan Lindmier (Angie Klaahsen), Ashley Risney (Michael, Sr.), Stephanie Danner (Josh Hrabik), Rees Schmidt, and Jake Schmidt (Elise); great-grandchildren: Crystal Herren (Jacob), Robert, Ethan, Emma, Michael Jr., Evan, Teddy, Luke, Oliver, and Grayson.

Connie passed away surrounded by her loved ones.

“Connie, you are the finest woman in the world that I have ever known! Toodles misses you dearly, Bright Eyes!”

                                           “Love, Virgil”

Virgil and the rest of the family. I am so sorry for the loss. May Jehovah strengthen you in this difficult time. You are in my prayers. Col 1:11 helped us through a difficult time lately. Maybe it can help you too.

To Connie’s family-this is Cyndee. My maiden name was Fritz. I always remember how kind and sweet Connie was. I recall when Connie and Virgil got married at the old Riverview Kingdom Hall on 17th street. She was glowing! She was such a beautiful woman and gentle soul. Im very sorry you’ve all lost such a special person.
