He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Dustin Petersen (Kylee) of Omaha; his daughter, Jennifer Petersen (Brian) of Omaha; two granddaughters, Jasmin and Charlize; and brother, Daryl Petersen of Omaha. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer “Bill” Petersen; his mother, Velma; and brother, Dan Petersen.

Dale Wesley Petersen was born on July 9, 1954, in Aurora, Nebraska, to Wilmer and Velma Petersen. Dale spent a portion of his childhood in Ashland, Nebraska, before the Petersen family settled in Millard.

Dale graduated from Millard High School in 1972, where he was a multi-sport athlete, but most notably was the quarterback of the football team. Dale led his high school football team to many victories. Several of Dale’s former teammates remained lifelong friends.

Dale attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he was a walk-on football player. Dale graduated from UNO with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

Dale was a very talented carpenter, and he spent his entire career working in the construction industry where he was a finish carpenter and then later a construction superintendent. Dale has left his stamp all over Omaha and the surrounding communities, overseeing and working on many commercial projects throughout the span of his career. Dale took extreme pride in his work, and his talent and work ethic were shared with many friends and family members.

Dale married Susan Carrie (Hackett) Petersen on February 19, 1982, in a little white chapel in Breckenridge, Colorado. Dale and Sue settled in Millard where they raised their two children – Dustin and Jennifer. Dale was a devoted husband, a doting father, and a very proud grandfather to his two beautiful granddaughters, Jasmin and Charlize.

Dale will be remembered for his joking sense of humor, his carpentry craftsmanship, and his selfless devotion to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of calling Dale a friend. He had an incredible sense of humor and he and I along with the PTW Crew had so many good times and memories on our annual golfing trips that will last forever.. We have no words to express to you our sadness at the loss of Dale. The world is a lesser place without him, but we know he is with God, and even heaven is improved by his presence there. I know you are assured of this, and yet this knowledge can’t diminish this loss and your grief.

I smile every time I think of Dale. He always came into the office smiling and greeting everyone. He would remind me that we were both Millard Alumni. Dale ran several construction projects for us, and his skilled carpentry experience solved challenges for others on site. He will be missed.

Dale will be greatly missed. We will always remember the times he welcomed us to their home. He was a man who cared for family and others. The world will be a smaller place without him. May God Bless the memories that everyone has of him. Thanks for the memories Dale. Dale and Diana (Sue’s sister).

Dale was so much fun when he golfed on our Wednesday golf league. We shared a lot of jokes and teased each other about our weak golfing skills. What a wonderful man, and it was a privilege to have been able to share some time with Dale.
