Daniel “Dan” Howard Jacques
June 3, 1949 – May 2, 2022
Dan (Daniel) Howard Jacques, 72 years old, is now resting in eternal life with parents Joan and Howard Jacques after natural causes ended his journey here on earth.
Dan grew up in Green Bay, WI and moved to Omaha, NE where he earned his Masters Degree at the University of Nebraska–Omaha. Omaha was his home away from home for over 50 years, but Green Bay was his home. His love of family was strong, and not quite superseded by his love of the Green and Gold, Packers. Dan was an avid gardener and loved the joy and beauty of flowers, and often randomly shared them with his co-workers just to brighten the day. Dan may have invented the rubber band wars in his prankster ways as well. He is remembered as a kind gentleman, and a great man with a gentle spirit.
Dan’s legacy at University Nebraska Medical Center in 1972 in research that evolved to the Psychiatry Department in 1987 as a Research Analyst. and since 2005 as an IT Specialist. During his time he worked closely with Dr. William Burke and Dr. Shelton Hendricks in psychopharmacology research, providing laboratory expertise and data analysis to various projects. He guided the work of many graduate and post-graduate students during his time. Many came to know Dan as the computer expert in the department, never too busy to help with big or small requests. Dan was a quiet and steady presence, with a gentle and generous nature that is deeply missed. He shared his love of flowers, good food and the Green Bay Packers. His sense of humor and office mischief were bright spots for those who knew him.
His siblings further survive Dan: Barbara, Manawa, WI, Lawrence (Kathleen) Oro Valley, AZ, Kenneth (Laurie) Green Bay, WI; Robert (Michelle L) Cecil, WI; Michelle (Ginger) Alexandria, VA; and J. Howard (Nancy) Hobart, WI. Many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins will miss him dearly.
Dan has had many close friends and work families who have watched over him through the years in Omaha. Heartfelt thanks for his renewed connection with Dr. Carol Huseman, first meeting in 1978. Your renewed connection warmed us knowing he had ‘his person’ as his mother, Joan would say. His second family at the University of Nebraska Department of Psychiatry has watched over him for 50 years.

Dan was a tremendously valuable worker at the Biochemistry Lab at Nebraska Psychiatric Institute. I’ll miss him, but his work lives on.
