Daniel Matthew Malone, age 71, peacefully passed away on December 4, 2017 in his daughter’s home in Phoenix, AZ, surrounded by his entire family. Dan was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor in early September 2017. He was born on June 17, 1946 in Omaha, NE. Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, G. Jeanne Malone; his nine children, to whom he was a devoted father: Shannon Warren (Michael), Janeen Gelinas (Erik), Kalan Clark (Grant), Molly Moloznik (Jeff), Danna Carney (Bryon), Megan Malone, Kevin Malone (Lisa), Mark Malone (Jessica), and Tim Malone; his 19 grandchildren, to whom he was a loving grandfather (affectionately known as “Thunder”): Madeline, Elizabeth, Katherine and Charlie Warren, Emma, Ryan, Jack, Sean and Abby Gelinas, Anna, Ellen and Lucas Clark, Maeve Moloznik, Jacob and Alex Buggie, Sophia and Mia Malone, Max and Emily Malone; his older brothers, Michael Malone (Sally) and Terry Malone (MaryAnn) many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aileen and Paul Malone; sisters, Molly Ratigan and Patricia Ponec.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 13th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL on Thursday, Dec. 14th at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 654 S. 86th St., with reception immediately following. Interment on Thursday at 2pm at Omaha National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #1.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the VSP Club/Angel Guardians Inc., 15693 Spaulding St. Omaha, NE 68118, 402.594.6747.

Dan was a tireless advocate for special needs children and adults.  He founded the VSP Club and Angel Guardians, Inc. and was a commercial real estate broker for many years.  Dan served in the Army during the Vietnam War immediately following his graduation from Kansas Neuman University in 1968.

    My sincerest condolences to your family. We loved your dad! He left us with some great memories. He was not only a great host, but was the BEST story teller ever. May he rest in peace.
