Darrell J. Karr 

August 4, 1929 – February 15, 2023

Darrell J. Karr was born on August 4, 1929, in Seward, Nebraska, to Albert and Mae (Hartman) Karr and graduated from Seward High School in 1947.

After graduation, Darrell joined the Nebraska National Guard and served for 8 years.

He married Phyllis Schultz on September 19, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Middlecreek) in Seward, Nebraska. They were blessed with 3 children, daughters Lori and Shari and son Scott. They lived in Lincoln for 13 years and then moved to Omaha.

Darrell worked for Golds’ & Company in Lincoln and Brandeis and Craftsman in Omaha before starting his own business, Office Interiors, Inc. in 1975. After retiring for a number of years, he worked part-time for Galaska’s Painting and Flooring. He enjoyed playing golf, driving his boat, and traveling to many different countries.

Darrell passed away on February 15, 2023, at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 15 days. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mae; his brothers: Mervin Karr, Dwaine Karr, and Lewis Karr. He is survived by his wife Phyllis; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Mark Abboud of Valley; daughter and son-in-law Shari and Leighton Michaelson of Papillion; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Sally Karr of Midway, Utah; grandchildren: Ashley (Jon) Mohar, Megan (Ted) Martin, Nick (Leandra) Abboud, Justin (Melanie) Michaelson, Bryan (Amy) Michaelson, Ellie Karr, and Jamie Karr; great-grandchildren: Ian Mohar, Owen Mohar, Zelda Michaelson, Maddox Martin, and Brecken Martin.

Family will receive friends Sunday, February 19th, from 4-6PM at West Center Chapel.

Funeral: Monday, February 20th, 10:30AM at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7706 S. 96th Street.

Interment: Evergreen

Memorials to Concordia Lutheran Schools, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, or Garuna Ministries in Cambodia.
