I remember when my first son had David Markley as a teacher in 7th grade. His personality filled the room at orientation at he joked around with the Social studies teacher, and a long time math teacher while the parents say learning about the classes. I was thrilled when my second son was put on 7a and would have David is a teacher. He was one of those teachers that students could look back and say, Mr. Markley was the reason why I went into science. He made learning both challenging and exciting. David Markley will be missed by the students and the entire community. To David, thank you for making a difference in so many young lives. Stacey Mather, Hayden Froscheiser & Cael Froscheiser.

One of our children was blessed to have Mr. Markley. He encouraged her love of science by giving her high school textbooks to keep after she was reading them in class. She still has them and has enjoyed looking at them often for fun. She really enjoyed him and his passion and kindness to her. She gave him his favorite treats once and awhile to show she appreciated him. We were all SO sad to hear. Prayers for all families & friends to him. He will be missed. He is one of those teachers who truly cared about students.

To the family – May the memories of David bring peace and comfort during this difficult time. My daughter Emaleigh was a student of Mr. Markley’s and has always said he was her favorite teacher. She described him as thoughtful, funny, caring and genuine. He was a blessing to many and won’t be forgotten. Our deepest sympathies. The Knobbe family

To David’s Family: Amie and I would like to say how saddened we were to hear of David’s passing. We have heard so many wonderful things about him and we were especially touched to read about how much the students he had cared for him. Amie and I are the sister and mother of Brett Rhodes who also taught at Kiewit in sixth grade. We lost him last August and understand your sorrow. We send you love and blessings. We hope time will bring you peace.

I wanted to make it to the visitation to offer my condolences in person, but the ice in my area was very bad. I taught with Dave at SJS. He was a good friend and a natural at teaching. He was always so understanding and patient with the kids. I’m was very sorry to hear what had happened.

Mr.Markley really impacted our two boys, our oldest had him last year, and one son who currently has him as his science teacher. He always had a smile for everyone. It was heartbreaking when talking with my son,of all the things this young 7th grader was dealing with and so emotional, he was concerned about Mr.Markly’s prized rock collection and who would care for it. We were unable to make the services, but wanted to offer condolences to his family, Just know he taught both our kids to love science, and to have fun with it.

Mr. Markley was my 7th and 8th grade science teacher at St. James and I can honestly say to this day he was the only teacher to get me interested in science. Awesome man who always put his students first. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. May the memories of him help his family through this tough time. God just gained an awesome angel.
