David M. Harris

David M. Harris

 November 12, 1949 – November 7, 2019

David Harris was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and much more to the people who were blessed to know him. David was a devoted Catholic, who grew up in the St. Ann Parish. He coached the volleyball team for many years. After graduating from Ryan High School, David proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War, where he was trained as a Corpsman, serving alongside the Marines. David worked for Creighton University and the Cardiac Center as an Echocardiography Technician, where he eventually retired after 35 years. David married Sheri on Valentine’s Day 1987 and raised their three daughters Delena, Dayna, Kimberly, and their son, Mark. David and Sheri were later blessed with seven grandchildren. As a father and grandfather, David NEVER missed a dance recital, school event, or any of the numerous sporting events. If you needed to find Dave, just look up in the stands of any of his children or grandchildren’s event; rain or shine, snow or heat advisory, Dave would never miss a chance to watch the ones he loved. It is nearly impossible to list everything Dave did for his family.  To name a few, he picked up the kids from school, ran Grandpa Daycare during the summers, and taxied the grandchildren to any practice, game, appointment, or you name it. David was a season ticket holder for Creighton Basketball and Volleyball and truly loved anything Creighton Bluejays, just check his wardrobe. After a long and hard fought battle with a Traumatic Brain Injury, David was called home on the night of November 6, while surrounded by his wife and four children. Dave will be forever loved and missed.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 10th from 4pm to 6pm, West Center Chapel followed by a VIGIL SERVICE at 6pm.  FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, November 11th, 10am, St. Columbkille Church, 200 E. 6th St.  INTERMENT: Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.  Memorials are suggested to CHI Hospice or St. Columbkille.

I was lucky enough to work with Dave at the Cardiac Center for several years. His joyful way of going about life was a gift to us all and we loved his ability to laugh and make the job one of good natured ribbing, while providing excellent patient care. He was a treasure to have at work and he will be missed by so many. Many prayers go out to his family, especially his sister, Patty, who worked at the Cardiac Center with us as well. It is always a deep day of sorrow when we at work lose such a positive influence to our daily lives. Please rest in Peace and in the arms of our Lord, dear Dave.

To the entire Harris family, my deepest sympathy. I worked at the Creighton Cardiac Center & knew Dave, Sheri & Patti very well. So saddened to learn of Dave’s passing. May each of you feel God’s presence, during this most difficult time. Love, Pat

So sorry I missed the service. Dave and I were in Scouting together for years.
His dad and my dad were a couple of the troop ;leaders. Many memories at his house playing records of the Beach Boys.
