David Otis Mackintosh

Mackintosh, David Otis Apr 22, 1924 – Mar 20, 2014 Born in Manhattan, Kansas, to David Leslie Mackintosh and Constance Sybil Mackintosh. He attended schools in Manhattan and graduated from Kansas State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1949. David served in the ASTP (Army) and later entered the Navy, where he was a Pharmacist Mate. In 1949 he established a veterinary practice in Gallatin, where he served until he retired. He was a lifetime member of both the Kansas and Missouri Veterinary Associations. For more than thirty years, David was a volunteer for the Gallatin Fire Department. An elder in the Presbyterian Church, he had a special interest in young people that led him to be involved with the Boy Scouts, 4-H, and a former teen center. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Darlene Knauer; children: Robert Bruce, William Leslie (Jodie) and their children Michael (Regan) and Ashley Horgan (Clark), Kathryn Ann and her daughter Becky, and Barbara Sue; sisters, Elizabeth Oswald and Mary Belle Bastain; brother, Donald Harvey Mackintosh (Barbara); 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stillborn daughter, Barbara Sue, and son, Michael Edward. PRIVATE SERVICES. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Gallatin Fire Department, 102 N. Main St., Gallatin, MO 64640.
