David Raymond Hansen

David Raymond Hansen

January 26, 1946 – September 7, 2024

David Raymond Hansen was born January 26, 1946, in Blair, Nebraska, to Margaret D. and Raymond C. Hansen.  He died September 7, 2024, in Omaha.

Dave was a 1964 graduate of Blair High School and received his BA in computer science from Bellevue University.

A twenty-seven-year veteran of the United States Navy, Dave was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Senior Chief.  He served on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Vietnam war and saw many Ports of Call during his enlistment. He was an original Inductee as an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.

David grew up in Blair riding his chrome laden Scwhinn Phantom, playing with his model train set, sledding down the hill at Crowell Home, climbing the clay banks above South Street, working on cars at Peter Stricklett’s Standard station, getting new P F Flyers muddy in South and Cauble Creeks, and was always ready to make people laugh.  He detested anything to do with a yard rake, snow shovel, or lawn mower. He met and married his wife, Delsa, while on deployment to the Philippine Islands.  She was the love of his life for over forty years.  The two of them enjoyed watching their son, Dave, play baseball and were amazed at daughter, Alison’s fearless quest for adventure.  They took many family vacations.  Their time was best spent boating and fishing in Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Delsa, of Bellevue, Nebraska; son, David of Bellevue, Nebraska; daughter, Alison of Portland, Oregon; son, Christopher of San Diego, California; son, Raymond of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Jane Gilbert; brother, Richard Hansen (Ann) of Blair. Nebraska.
