David W. Sappenfield
February 11, 1943 – January 14, 2022
Dave passed away on Jan. 14, 2022. Dave was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Omaha, the son of Clyde and Vera Sappenfield of Blair.
Dave grew up in Blair, and graduated from Blair High School in 1961. He was blessed with two daughters, Lori and Jill. Dave was a dedicated employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Blair for 37 years; committed to getting the mail delivered through all kinds of weather. Dave had remarkable recall of Blair history and enjoyed reminiscing about his hometown. After his Postal retirement, he began working at Baxter Chrysler in Omaha, continuing for 18 plus years.
In 1973, he met his wife, Madonna, who was then living in Sioux City, Iowa, as she was frequently visiting her sister and husband, Mardell and Don Andersen, in Blair.
Dave and Madonna were married on March 23, 1974, in Blair and made their home in Omaha for the next 47 plus years.
Dave and Madonna enjoyed traveling and cruising. Dave was also a big Husker football fan and attended many games at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, or avidly watched the games on TV. Dave and Madonna spent a lot of cherished time with family and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by two daughters, Lori Polen and Jill Halsey; parents, Clyde and Vera (Lamb) Sappenfield; brother-in-law, Don Frahm; sister-in-law and husband, Mardell and Don Andersen; brother-in-law and wife, Darrell and Barb McCuen.
Dave is survived by his wife, Madonna; sister, Kay Beth Frahm; nephews: Mark Frahm, Kevin Frahm (Carol), Brent Frahm (Val), Paul Andersen (Mariann); niece, Pam Santos (Daniel); several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
VISITATION: Monday, January 24th from 11am to 1pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by SERVICES at 1pm.

knowing Dave at the Grand Reserve, and he is missed.
Madonna I am so sorry. David was just a wonderful person. I can still hear his laugh! Take comfort in knowing he is not suffering any longer. I am sorry I will miss the service as I really wanted to be there for you. Know that I am thinking about you. Prayers for you and a big hug!
