Dear Linda – I am so very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. What a great mentor and supportive “boss” Dave was. I will always consider Dave’s hiring me at UNO as one of the great blessings in my life. A couple of great memories include getting out of the office to “walk and think” about issues; and getting Dave out of the office to visit START towns. I have tests at the dr office Monday morning, so will not be able to get to the visitation. Patti and I will have you and your family in our prayers.

The Kerrigan family were fortune enough to know David and his family for over four decades. My father and David worked together at UNO for many years but they were really great friends more than co-workers. We will always remember the love and friendship he showed our entire family.

Linda, I just wanted to add a conversation that I think you will appreciate. A few of us were standing in the Hallway at PKI and I asked “Where’s home?” One said Egypt, another said India. When Dave happened by I asked him, “Where’s home?” His immediate response was, “Wherever my wife is!” And then he walked on. We all looked at each other and said in admiration, Dave’s right, as usual. I thought, it’s so evident that Dave loves his wife, I want others to see that in me.

Linda, I’m so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. He was a wonderful friend. He always had a smile and good word for everyone. He fought the good fight and I’m sure our Lord and Savior has greeted him with open arms. He is in a much better place with no pain, no tears and surrounded with pure, liquid love. My prayers are with you at this time.

I’m sorry to hear of David’s passing. Our paths crossed at the College of IS&T. He always found time for students to chat and see how they were doing. Dean Hinton was a person you wanted to have a beer with and he wanted to have a beer with you!

We’re not sure if Dave would have considered himself a “character” but to us he was very unforgettable. Self deprecating, funny, talented, interesting, thoughtful all describe Dave. We will never forget the time we spent with Dave and Linda on the beautiful beaches of Sanibel. Many mornings we would look out our window and see Dave completing his morning 50 laps in the pool. Later in the day he and Linda would be found on the beach, usually engrossed in conversation with old and new friends. The new ones benefitting from the local knowledge Dave and Linda had garnered over the many years returning to their favorite Florida hang out. The Gopher Tortoise Dave carved for us has a special place in our hearts and in our Florida home. It will always be a remembrance of a truly unforgettable person.
With our love, thoughts, and prayers
    Eric and Martha Vermeulen
