Deborah A. Sledge

Deborah A. Sledge

June 20, 1972 – December 12, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Deborah “Debbie” Sledge (Pollack), who left us on December 12, 2024, at the age of 52. Born on June 20, 1972, Debbie lived a life filled with love, selflessness, and devotion to her family and community. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, always there for others until the very end.

Debbie’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her family. She and her husband Joe were blessed with eight children, and her role as a wife and mother was her greatest joy. Debbie’s dedication to her children was unmatched; she was the heart and soul of their lives.

A devoted stay-at-home mom, she spent countless hours volunteering in her children’s schools and extracurricular activities. She served as a classroom mom, team manager for soccer and volleyball teams, a volleyball coach, and a girl scout leader, always going the extra mile to make everything more enjoyable and special for others.

Debbie’s love for people extended far beyond her family. She was a natural at connecting with others, a trait that was evident throughout her career. After graduating from Daniel J. Gross High School in 1990 and earning a criminal justice degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha, Debbie worked as a bailiff in the courthouse and in various waitressing jobs. She found great joy in meeting new people and forming lasting connections. Later, as a flight attendant for Midwest Express, she was able to travel and serve others, a job she loved deeply.

Debbie’s commitment to others was not limited to her career. Her time spent with her children and their friends was always filled with laughter, fun, and love. She was the heart of many family gatherings, hosting memorable cousin camps, where cousins would bond and create lasting memories.

Her home was always a gathering place for children, friends, and family alike. Whether it was organizing outings, hosting holiday celebrations, or making simple moments feel magical, Debbie had a unique gift for making everything feel special.

Debbie also loved spending time with her family at the cabin, where many cherished memories were made. Whether they were relaxing by the lake, enjoying a cookout, or simply being together, those moments were dear to her.

Debbie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She deeply valued her spiritual journey, eagerly anticipating the peace and renewal she found at the Cloisters retreat. A devoted participant in multiple Alpha groups, she also served as a leader on several occasions, guiding others with her wisdom and compassion. Her monthly gatherings with the Magis group were a source of strength and connection, reflecting her unwavering commitment to her faith and community.

Her incredible spirit, love for her family, and dedication to helping others had a tremendous impact on everyone she touched. Debbie was truly one of a kind, and her legacy of kindness, love, and service will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her mother, Diane K. Pollack.

Debbie was a light in the world. I had the pleasure of knowing her and Joe and their first two children, Dianna and Sydney, through her cousin Brian Rea and family. I remember she wanted as many kids as she could have, and that is just what she did. This family is amazing, and I hope the support of each other and all the memories will bring you all comfort. My deepest heartfelt sympathy. I know her spirit will live on through all of you touched by her life.
