Deborah Kay Malone

Deborah Kay Malone

August 26, 1953 – November 24, 2022

Deborah Kay Malone, born on August 26, 1953, passed on November 24, 2022. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Paul and Arlene Smith; and sisters, Karma Maly and Mary Wallace. Deborah is survived by her son, Bill Malone; daughter, Kristina Green; son, Ed Malone and wife, Melissa Malone. Deborah had two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Klimek and Kaleb Green, both from Kristina. She will be remembered fondly by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Deborah grew up and spent the majority of her life in Omaha, NE, although she found her way to Denison, Iowa, and Thousand Oaks, California, for a few short spells at different times. In her earlier years, Deborah loved aquatics and was an accomplished competitive swimmer, a passion that would follow her throughout her life, even after her active days of swimming concluded.
Inherited from her parents, Paul and Arlene, Deborah was an active and loyal follower of Nebraska football, the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, Nascar, and the Miami Dolphins, as few opportunities to watch her teams were ever missed. If not taking in a game, she loved reading and caring for the many animals she had throughout her lifetime, most of which were cats. In the same way, she would care for the many friends and family she had in life.
Deborah was a deeply loving person who wouldn’t hesitate to help her friends and family if possible, regardless of the personal trials and tribulations she faced in her life. Whether it be several cancer diagnoses, with the final one being stage four, a traumatic skull injury requiring extensive surgery and care, or the passing of close friends and family, she would always go out of her way to try to help the ones closest to her.
Deborah will be remembered by those closest to her as a loving and dedicated mother, family member, and friend with an incredible will to fight for whatever she dedicated herself to, as well as an indomitable spirit that made her unforgettable and made a lasting impression on all those she cared for. She will be sorely missed.

A small informal visitation for anyone who would like to pay respects will be held on Friday, December 2nd, from 5-7pm at West Center Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nebraska Humane Society at 8929 Fort St Omaha, NE, or online at www.nehumanesociety.org in Deborah’s name would be greatly appreciated.

To Debbies family, I was so sorry to hear of your mothers illness and death. I remember her as a toddler in her father arms with her well loved blanket, which went to kindergarden as a corner. She was very loved by her family. May you take comfort in special memories and her love for all of you. She and her family were long time friends and Mary was my age sharing our growing up years with Debbie always wanting to join in. 😉 A donation has been make in her name to NHS

To anyone who reads this, just wanted to sends condolences & say thank you for everything you’ve meant to our mom. Because of the family & friends she’s had, I believe she fought just a bit harder to give us more time together. I’m praying for all of you just as I am for mom. Next time the opportunity arises, watch a Huskers, Bulls, Cubs, Dolphins or Nascar event in her honor. We love ya mom, and can’t wait to see you again one day.
