Della was such a hoot! I loved teaching and spending time with her! It was so much fun being invited to her Christmas wine, pizza and treats parties at her classic home in Harlan.

I did not have the fortune to have her as a teacher, both my children did. She waas an amazing teacher she got my daughter to reach for more and tought my son it was ok to like history. My oldest is graduating this year with a love for school and learning and a lot of that is because of this amazing teacher.

    Prayers to the family.
In the late 90’s Della went on a trip with my daughter and myself to Tampa Florida through a school project that blew up to an amazing trip to many places including the Florida Keys.
In the 2000’s Della had three more of our kids as their teacher. All 4 of our kids loved the stories Della told in class.
Many great Mrs. Newlin stories have been told around our supper table. Prayers to all the family. I’m sure she is greatly missed.

Della was a loss to the College Blvd neighborhood when she moved 3 years ago. She always came back and attended Harlan and neighborhood functions. Now her loss is magnified. I cherish my memories of her and our neighborly chats, joint garage sales, and just knowing her for 46+ years.

Della was more than my Mother In Law, she was the only mother figure I had here in Florida since moving from Canada. Her son Dan and I have a beautiful daughter Morgan, and I feel so blessed for her being the amazing Grandmother that she was. This sudden loss has been a great shock, as Della was a vibrant and energetic woman. She is irreplaceable. From our dinners at Skidders to her stories of back home and all the goings-on, and of course, all the memories at the beach. Della, you will be truly and sorrowfully missed. Thank you for being an amazing Mother, and an exceptional Grandmother, and a role model for Morgan. There is really no way to express how much you will be missed, but I can promise you this- whenever we sit on the Gulf of Mexico, there will always be an extra beach chair right next to us….waiting for you. I love you, Della,
    Deanna Newlin

I am sorry to hear my dear cousin has past! What a great woman who prided herself on doing her best in whatever she was doing! She was always lovely in what she wore, what she did and what she said! As a younger cousin I always looked up to her! I will miss her tales of what she was doing and what her children were doing! She was so proud of you! I thought she would live longer than Edna! What energy she had!! She could talk to you on the phone for hours! Ha! I will miss her but admire what a wonderful person she was! I am sorry for her leaving us but know she will be with Edna and Odean in heaven!! ❤️
