Preceded in death by parents, Dr. Lewis A. and Twila Schafer; brother, Rodney Schafer; in-laws, Charles S. and Catherine Monico. Survived by wife, Kathy (Monico) Schafer; sister-in-law Mary Jane Herron (Gary); brothers-in-law, Chuck Monico (Kathy) and Jerry Monico (Kathy); nephews: Chuck Monico (Marlo), Tony Monico, and Greg Monico (Rachael); nieces, Lisa Kalamaja (Joe), Catherine Johnson (Brian), Andrea Monico, Michelle Maher (Dave), and Christine Nelson (Greg); grandnieces and grandnephews: Michael, Charles, Christian, Marissa, Carmella, Brayden, Bradley, Sara, Erin, James, Noah, Isabelle, Samuel, Elijah, Miles, and Natalie.
VISITATION begins on Friday, September 13th at 4pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 6:30pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, September 14th at 10am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7600 S. 42nd St. Interment: St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Gross Catholic High School or St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
