Dennis was my first baseball coach back in the 80’s. He was my favorite coach of all time, even through high school. His attitude was infectious. I hadn’t seen Dennis in about 30 years until a couple months ago. I was sitting at the bar at Maria’s Mexican Restaurant eating lunch. This man struck up a conversation with me and we talked for about 30 minutes. I thought to myself, this guy has a great attitude and it was also clear that he had a lot of wisdom. I really appreciated the conversation. As he got up to leave with his carry-out order, we shook hands and exchanged names. I was caught off guard but immediately realized to whom I was speaking. We must have spent another 30 minutes talking about baseball, his career, what I’m up to and what Denny (son) was doing nowadays. It was obvious how proud he was of his son, Denny.

My condolences to Denny Jr. and family. And I’m sorry, Mrs. Sullivan, if those tacos were cold by the time Denny got home.

Denny gave me my first job at the Golden Skillet (Grandmothers). I learned volumes about the hospitality business from him. He was also one to teach and coach me along during my time working there. . I would see him every now and then around town and he always knew I was. Sincere thoughts to Mary and Family during this time.

My greatest condolences. Although I wasn’t around Denny Sr a lot, he made a positive impression through his kids and the stories relayed to me through Denny Jr. My impression from my interaction and said stories was that this was a father and family that took as much pride in each other as from themselves, a trait as a family that is a true blessing. I hope you all find warmth in your memories and comfort in the understanding of a life well lived.
