Dennis Michael Kirlin, age 79, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Dennis Michael Kirlin was born on September 18, 1934 near Modale, Iowa to William and Rena (Sproul) Kirlin. He graduated from Modale High School in 1952. He was engaged in farming after high school. He married Barbara Ann Skelton on June 22, 1957 and together they had five children. Denny loved farming and was a Director on the Modale COOP Board for twenty years. Their farm was established as a Century Farm in 1987. Denny and Barbara loved traveling with the family and continued to travel extensively throughout the years. He loved to golf, and he and Barbara wintered in Arizona for thirteen years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara Kirlin of Missouri Valley, Iowa; children: William Kirlin and wife Susan of Modale, Iowa; Lisa Kirlin of Blair, Nebraska; Robert Kirlin and wife Angie of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Michael Kirlin and wife Ann of Modale, Iowa; Scott Kirlin and wife Kristin of Honey Creek, Iowa, sister: Rita Strabala of Ames, Iowa, fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his: parents, William and Rena Kirlin, sister, Patricia Zahner. Wake service will be held Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Jim Herman officiating. Visitation will follow until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
