Diane Eleanor Ames

Diane Eleanor Ames

September 14, 1943 – October 13, 2022

Diane Eleanor Ames of Omaha, Nebraska passed away October 13, 2022, at the age of 79. She was born on September 14, 1943, as the third child to Mildred and Lawrence Roling in Remsen, Iowa. Diane married the love of her life, Robert Ames, and they enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage, most of that spent in Omaha. Family was the most important part of Diane’s life. She stayed a constant presence in the lives of her children—Jacqueline, Timothy, and Claudia—and never missed a chance to brag about her grandchildren—Alexis, Carolina, Maxwell, Eleanor, and Amira. She was president of all of their fan clubs.

And never let it be said that Diane didn’t have an abundance of kindness and generosity to share with her friends and community. She was passionate about being involved, playing a role in philanthropic organizations throughout the city and participating in numerous social clubs with all of her friends. She loved to golf, play bridge, and entertain most of all. Ask anybody who knew her, and they can name a favorite dish she made for a special occasion or celebration. Diane would want you to celebrate her life with a good meal, a fine glass of wine, and your friends and family. She will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, St. John Vianney Catholic Church of Omaha. The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Friday evening, October 14, 2022, 5:00 p.m. at the church, followed by a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Joslyn Art Museum, Duchesne Academy, or a charity of one’s choice.
