Diane Louise (O’Donnell) Nyberg
May 29, 1953 – May 13, 2023
Diane was born May 29, 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska to Danny and Mary Kay O’Donnell. As little sister to big brother Steve, she was their oldest daughter, and more siblings were to follow. She grew up in a great big Irish Catholic family surrounded by more aunts, uncles, and cousins than one can count.
Diane attended Holy Angels grade school after moving on to Notre Dame High School for freshman year. She then transferred to Paul VI High School where she graduated. Growing up, she met her oldest and dearest friend, Sheri (Diederich) Carter, with whom she remained close friends with until the end of her life.
Diane married Walt Zezulak in 1972. While they ultimately divorced, Diane and Walt share 2 children who grew up in a loving home with a stay-at-home mom.
Later in life, Diane met and married Russ Nyberg. Together, they traveled the world enjoying sights, shopping, food, life, and love together. They were by each other’s side until Russ’s untimely passing in 2013.
Diane was a loving grandmother and truly enjoyed watching all her grandchildren grow and hearing about their accomplishments.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Michelle Zezulak; son, Martin Zezulak; granddaughters, Kaylee Davis, Serena Zezulak; bonus children and grandsons: Lea (Daryl) and sons, Connor and Aric Hilyard, and Jeremy Nyberg; siblings: Steve (Chris) O’Donnell, Barb (Bob) McCann, Pat O’Donnell and Tim (Teresa) O’Donnell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Diane is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russ Nyberg; her cherished granddaughter, Kirsten Davis; her loving parents, Danny and Mary Kay O’Donnell; her blessed brother, Bro. Paul O’Donnell.
The Family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at West Center Chapel, followed by a Vigil service at 6:00 pm.
A private Zezulak/O’Donnell/Nyberg family funeral will take place Wednesday May 24, 2023, beginning at 10:30 am.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

I shall always remember my cousin Diane has a very loving and vivacious individual but sadden over her death. But she now sees the Lord face to face which reminds me that our grief is temporary and that one day we will be reunited with our loved ones in a place without death, crying, or sorrow.
