John R. “Jack” Dixon Apr 3, 1927 – Jan 25, 2015 Preceded in death by parents, Ronald and Mary, and beloved wife, Frances. Survived by children: John (Sherry), Bill (Mary Jo), Dan (Sharon), and Jane Gage (Tom); grandchildren: Katie DeSantis (Tony), Raquel Rodriguez (Frank), Bill, Jaimee Johanning (JJ), Liz Lange (Nick), Joe (Beth), Sarah Yandell (Shaun), Ellen Osborne (Adam), Regina, Jennifer Smith (Chase), Kelsey, and Daniel Gage; great-grandchildren: Tannor, Connor, Hannah, Bennett, Caroline, Carter, Lexi, Ravenna, Caddie, Charlotte, Miles, Liam, Ella, Orion, and Anthony; sister, Dorothy Armentrout; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A lifelong Omahan, Jack was a 1944 graduate of Central High School. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the Navy. He attended Creighton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1950 and a Master of Business Administration in 1969. He spent most of his professional career working at Mutual of Omaha, retiring as EVP of Personnel in 1990 after more than 30 years of service. In retirement he enjoyed traveling with Fran, especially to their winter home in Tucson. He was sharp and well read, played many hands of bridge and gin rummy, actively walked and gardened, and relaxed with a martini now and again. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Elkhorn. Jack was a giver and, together with Fran, they generously supported many organizations and institutions as well as their 12 grandchildren’s education. His unwavering grace, humor, wisdom, and advice will be remembered and missed by many. VIGIL SERVICE Monday, February 2nd at 6:30pm at the West Center Chapel, with family greeting friends beginning at 4pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Tuesday, February 3rd at 10am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 204th and Maple in Elkhorn. Luncheon immediately following at the church. Private family interment. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
