Dola Neujahr Hansen
October 9, 1926 – March 27, 2025
Dola passed away on March 27, 2025, after battling vascular dementia for 10 years. She was born on October 9, 1926, to Alfred and Anna Neujahr in Council Bluffs, IA. Dola was the youngest of two children. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1944.
Dola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Hansen; and brother, Don Neujahr. She is survived by her children, Sue Flynn and Jim Hansen; as well as her grandchildren, Ashley Kunes (Bob) and Alan Flynn (Bridget) and her two great-grandchildren, Ivy and Roman Kunes.
Dola married Richard (Dick) Hansen of Omaha in 1955. They went on to have two children, Sue and Jim. Dola worked at IBM, Ameritrade and spent over 30 years as a switchboard operator at Younkers. Dola was a Volunteer Red Cross Nurse’s Aide during WWII. She spent most of her free time shopping, playing bridge and golf, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She collected Barbies and dolls.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, 11:30AM at Lutheran Church of the Master, 2617 South 114th Street, with a VISITATION at 11:00AM. A Luncheon will follow at 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers, the Family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
