Dolores C. “Dee” Blaydes

Dolores C. “Dee” Blaydes, 87, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

She was born February 23, 1932 to Sigvard and Helen (Erickson) Jensen in Hawarden, Iowa.

She attended school in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1949.  While living in Omaha, Dee was the Production Manager for an advertising agency Bozell & Jacobs.  She was united in marriage to Carl Blaydes on August 24, 1973 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He preceded her in death in 2004.

In November of 2004, Dee moved to Johnson Lake to be closer to family.  She enjoyed living at the lake and was known as “MommaLake” to her friends and family.  She was part of the Johnson Lake Ladies Luncheon group and participated in a dart league at LakeShore Marina.

Dee loved fishing and was part of a fishing club while living in Omaha.  She also enjoyed quilting, traveling, and was an artist.  In her later years, Dee picked up photography and took many wildlife pictures around Johnson Lake.  She had a soft heart for animals and had two rescue cats, Willy and Lily.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Debra) Carlberg, Jr, of Omaha, Eric Carlberg of Johnson Lake, Edward “EJ” (Nicole) Carlberg of Omaha and Karen (Dan) Finken of Johnson Lake; step-sons, Jack (Judy) Blaydes of Rodger, Wisconsin, Rod (Diane) Blaydes of Elk River, Minnesota and Larry (Deborah) Blaydes of Fremont, Nebraska; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and  her cat, Willy.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl; daughter-in-law, Denise and two brothers, Douglas and Lawrence.

Reception of Friends: Saturday, November 23rd for 11:30am to 1:30pm, at the West Center Chapel.
