On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, our loved one Domenick B. Sorbello of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vito and Sarah; siblings: Lucille, Sam, and Bill. He is survived by his brother, Anthony; his beloved wife of 71 years, Joyce DeLaney Sorbello; sons: Donald, Thomas, Ronald and Dan; daughters: Linda Drabek (Larry), Diane Fucinaro (Ron), and Lora Sorbello (Chuc); grandchildren: Stacie, Faith, Angie, Sarah, Ryan (Jade), Derek, Rosa, and Jake; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Jordan, Kaidyn, Mariah, Rhianna, Danielle, A.J., Sicily, Domenick, and Leota; sister-in-law, Ruth; and many nieces and nephews.
Domenick served in the United States Army and worked for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a Santa Lucia member, State President of Fraternal Order of Police from 1983 to 1996, and Executive Board member and past Vice President of the Omaha Police Union. After 34 years of service, he retired from the Omaha Police Department as a Police Sergeant.
Dad enjoyed hunting, handball, softball, bowling, tinkering in the shed, working on cars, and having coffee with the guys and his best friend, Jack. Oh, let’s not forget the adventures at Domenick’s Donuts!
Dad’s favorite things were making Italian cheese, drinking Vitamin D milk, Las Vegas, playing cards at home with Mom, and spending time with loved ones and friends.
Dad was an old soul, so when he wanted to start using the computer and Facebook, there was a lot of eye rolling—and poor Frank T.! Dad never could get the hang of Emojis and modern abbreviation, so with his definition of “LOL,” we say good-bye from him to you with him signing off—
Lots Of Love

I (Tom) had the honor of working for Domenick for a number of shift changes. The safety and welfare of his crew always came first. He was one of the most well regarded law enforcement professionals we have ever known. May he rest in peace. Tom and Dianna Zoucha

I met Domenick many years ago when I was an OPD intern. He was one of warmest, kindest officers I had met and I never forgot him or the lasting impression he made on me. I’m certain many others who had the privaledge of knowing him would agree. My condolences to his family. Rest assured he was beloved my many.
Sgt. Sorbello was my Sergeant on many evenings when I was a young police officer.
Sgt. Sorbello was an outstanding leader and he had a deep amount of patience within him.
I’m sure he reached deep into his teaching skills when I worked for him.

I met Dominic when I was a young officer in the late 70s. He was the kind of supervisor that you wanted to for. He was always there to back up his guys and help young officers just starting out. Sergeant.Sarbello had the rare combination of guts, professionalism and, compassion that made him universally liked by everyone that he worked with.. Rest in peace Sgt
The greatest grandpa in the entire world. The love you had for your grand kids was unmatched! My childhood was filled with memories I will hold dear to my heart forever, including the best Grandpa hugs, endless buffets and the reason I’m addicted to ludens cherry cough drops. You never missed an opportunity to tell us how loved we were. I could never thank you enough for loving us the way you did. I love you forever.
Condolences to your entire family on the lose of a great man
