Dominique S. Hocij

Dominique S. Hocij

September 2, 1999 – June 21, 2020

Dominique S. Hocij, her smile was contagious and shined for miles. Her heart was full of love, and her talent had no boundaries. Dominique was a beautiful soul that made a permanent impression on so many people’s lives. Words do not do justice on how grateful we all are to have had her touch our lives in so many ways. She will always be with us everyday in all that we see, hear, feel, and do. We will always miss and love her deeply. Although she was taken from us so soon, she would have wanted us to celebrate her life and cherish all the many memories that were created.

She was a student at Midland University, in the Performing Arts and Design with one more year before graduation. She was very active in so many different areas. In the Performing Arts Department she made a difference in the theatre, choir, art and many others. Dominique received numerous academic honors, awards and mentions and ran a number of clubs. Her creativity was one of her many gifts and was an Amazing Artist. She was a gift herself and made us all a better person being in our lives.

She touched us in so many ways and was adored by all. She was a mentor with incredible patience and many looked up to her. She loved to go fishing, being creative in every possible way and spending time with those she loved. She had a talent like no other! Her kind heart was always gentle and loving and always willing to help in any way she could. Her life was a blessing and her memories will always be treasured. Her creativity is surrounded by us everywhere. Her spirit lives within us all and forever in our hearts.

Dominique, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. You left a piece of you with all of us and a part of all of us is with you. Until we meet again.

Dominique is survived by her Mother, Susan Hocij; Brother, Royce Hocij; Grandmother, Gisela Hocij; Aunts; Uncles; and many more Family and Friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was Dominique’s middle school Special Education teacher. My favorite memory of her was having her in tutoring and on the last day, her mom brought pizza, ice cream, and a bunch of other treats to celebrate getting through tutoring. It was then a joy to watch Dominique blossom at Westside where she attended high school with my daughter, Lizzy. She was a true light and will be missed in this world. Mrs. Tranmer

I was one of Dominique’s professors at Midland University. I remember her sitting in the back row of my large lecture classroom. She was one of the arts-interested people, as I recall, and that is a very vibrant group on campus. We will all be sorry not to see her anymore,
