Nelsen, Don F. Jan 17, 1922 Dec 14, 2009 Born in Brayton, IA, to Holger N. Nelsen and Marie Freeman Nelson; died Monday in Omaha, NE. Don graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1939 and received degrees from the University of Omaha and the University of Southern California. He taught in the Omaha Public Schools from 1948 until his retirement in 1982, at Lincoln, Clifton Hill, and Henry W. Yates elementary schools and at Beveridge Junior High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two and a half years during World War II in the United States, England, and France. Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank R. Nelsen. He is survived by foster brother, John R. “Jack” Hughes; nephew, David Nelsen of Bellevue, WA; niece, Melinda Loney and husband Fred of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law, Barbara Nelsen of Vancouver, WA; cousin, Marilyn Meyer of Everly, IA, and many other cousins. No services are planned. Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross.
