Donald Dean Obrecht

Donald Dean Obrecht age 86, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on October 26, 2013. Donald was born March 9, 1927 in Shelby, Iowa to Clyde and Helen (Andersen) Obrecht. Donald graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1945. He married Mildred “Peg” (Scott) on June 13, 1949 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He worked for Scenic View rest areas for nine years in maintenance. He worked for Snow-Co Corp in warehousing and as a Truck Driver. He loved football, bowling, horse racing and going to the casino. Donald is preceded in death by: parents, brothers; Clyde Jr., Charles; sisters; Dorothy Harter and Gladys Wallace. Survivors include his wife: Mildred “Peg” of Missouri Valley, Iowa, son: Ronald and wife Cynthia of Council Bluffs, Iowa grandchildren: Mitch Obrecht of Carter Lake, Iowa; Marty Obrecht of Omaha, Nebraska; Jason Obrecht of Atlantic, Iowa; Kyle Obrecht of Gastonia, North Carolina; Brandon Obrecht of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Katrina Williams of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three great grandchildren: Marisa Howell of Omaha, Nebraska; Christopher Howell of Hawaii; Haleigh Obrecht of Gastonia, North Carolina, brothers: Robert of Battlefield, Missouri, Gaylord of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Keith of Mitchell, Nebraska, sisters: Arlene Hand of Council Bluffs, Iowa ; Jennie Mahanke of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Betty Grundemeier of Council Bluffs, Iowa, sister-in-law: Jean Sublet and husband Bill of Council Bluffs, Iowa A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday with visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship to the church after the committal service.
