Donald Dene Barth, 71, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born on April 4, 1953, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Donald and Mary Barth. He grew up in Lincoln and spent much of his time at Lake Waconda. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for undergrad and Creighton University for Pharmacy School where he became a third generation pharmacist, following in his family’s footsteps. Don spent 40 years as a pharmacist including owning Loveland Pharmacy for almost 20 of those years. During his career, he also served as a preceptor for Creighton University students on rotation from pharmacy school.
Don was known for keeping an impeccable movie collection, playing video games, and cheering on his Denver Broncos. He found immense joy in time spent with family and friends, and he always loved a good game, especially if it was Trivial Pursuit. He was the ultimate gamer and ambassador for fun, but he was also a source of strength for everyone who knew him as he was always your biggest fan.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maureen (Delaney) Barth; children: Ryan (Laura) of Reston, Virginia, Kelly (Carly) of Omaha, Tim (Stephanie) of Omaha, and Dan (Kaitlyn) of Omaha; his sister, Lonna (Fred) Peterson of Madison, Wisconsin; along with his ten grandchildren – Nora, Molly, Teddy, Delaney, Benjamin, Josephine, Amelia, Douglas, June, and Jack; the Fab Five; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary (Hester) Barth; and his sister, Donna (Barth) Schoenfeld.
VISITATION will take place on Thursday, February 27th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler’s West Center Chapel, 7805West Center Road.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held on Friday, February 28th at 10:30 a.m. Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 114330 Eagle Run Drive, Omaha,
A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of Don’s memory.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Methodist Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff of the 4th, 7th and 9th floors as well as Dr. Robert Penn, his Staff, Dr. Guillermo Huerta, and Dr. Stephen H. Williams.

Mo and family, it was an absolute pleasure meeting Don and your lovely family. Getting to care for him at Methodist was the highlight of my shifts. My heart is heavy and I am praying for you and your family. He was very loved up here on 4 North.

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to attend any services and personally convey my condolences. But please know they are there. I did see the funeral Mass online – very beautiful tribute to Don. Hope it brought closure and peace to all. It did for me. I’m grateful I knew him God bless and keep Don.

Maureen, I was so sorry to see that Don had passed away. He was one of the good guys! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Maureen, I was shocked this morning when I opened up the paper. The two best bosses I ever had, Don & Dave, are now gone. If I’d known I would of of gone to the service. My heart is aching. Don was the nicest guy in the world. Candy & I are thinking of you and the boys.
Oh, Maureen. And your Family. We are so saddened to hear of Don’s passing. It’s just hard to take in. Please know you are loved. We’re praying for you.
It was with the greatest sadness that I heard about the passing of Don. Maureen and family, I am so sorry, and you have my deepest condolences. Don was the best of friends, the best of comrades, and as I know with all my heart, missed by all.
Maureen, I just learned of Don’s passing and it floored me. Don was such an amazing person, role model and, most importantly, friend. To this day, I have so many memories of Don and they always bring a smile. My sincere condolences to you and your family as well as my appreciation for the both of you.
