Donald E. Girard

GIRARD, Donald E., May 12, 1936 – Oct 18, 2009. Born in Perry, IA, to Herman Girard and Opal Pittman Girard. Graduated from Clarinda High School in 1955, Northwest Missouri State College in 1959, and Creighton University Law School in 1962. Married Margaret “Peggy” Owen on August 24, 1958, in Clarinda, IA. From 1962 to 2006, practiced law in North Platte, NE, where he was a member of the Lincoln County Bar Association, served on the Vestry and was Senior Warden at Church of Our Savior, and volunteered at the North Platte Community Playhouse. In 2006 the couple moved to Omaha, NE, where Don became active in Mended Hearts and at All Saints Episcopal Church. Don enjoyed backpacking, fishing, skiing and cycling, Creighton Blue Jay basketball, and time spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters: Ann Noodell and husband David, Emily Heinzen and husband Tim; son, Owen Girard and wife Gina; grandchildren: Molly and Benjamin Noodell, Nicholas, Alexander and Vincent Girard, Tess and Katherine Heinzen. SERVICES Wednesday, 10:30am, All Saints Episcopal Church, 9302 Blondo. Memorials are suggested to All Saints Episcopal Church, Omaha or Church of Our Savior, North Platte. Arrangements pending, complete notice later.
