Upon his father’s death, Don became the sole owner of the business and operated it for forty-one years. During his years in Fremont, Nebraska he loved his work as a “Bud Man” and was a major figure in all business-related functions of his dear Fremont and the area he served. He held state and local positions dealing with the economic development of the government, serving at the state level with the Nebraska Economic Commission as well as the Fremont Area Community Foundation. He chaired both commissions with pride and love. He served for four years, two of them as chairman, on Budweiser’s national board Wholesaler Panel. He was active with the Elks and Eagles, and also with the Boy Scouts of America. His love of Fremont was surpassed only by his love of his family.
