Donald H. Wagner
November 15, 1951 – October 13, 2022
Donald H. Wagner, 70, passed away October 13, 2022, at his family home in Omaha Nebraska. He was born November 15, 1951, in Schuyler, Nebraska, the son of George and Martha (Koch) Wagner.
Don received his education and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1970. After graduation,he began a career with the Union Pacific Railroad. He was with Maintenance of Way for many years, until he sustained an injury on the job. This forced him to leave the field and seek new employment within the UP system. He then attended Southeast Community College in Milford, NE to retrain for a new position. Don had a very successful career in the downtown headquarters until his retirement.
Don loved the outdoors and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He earned many Master Angler awards from the State of Nebraska. His ole’ black and white van was a common site on the clay banks of the Dawson Co. canal.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by brother, George Jr. of Columbus, NE; and stepson Shane Stauffer of Cozad, NE.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet S. Wagner of Omaha; son, Jacob Wagner of Schuyler; sister, Anita Ellingson of Grand Island; stepdaughters: Angie Stauffer of Cozad and Heidi Dvorak and husband Todd of Grand Island; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
