Donald “Donnie” James McVay , age 65, of Omaha, Nebraska sadly left us on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Donnie was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke them they were meaningful. A kind soul that was loved by many and will be missed beyond words.  He loved spending time with his sons and grandkids, whether it be camping, fishing, hiking, or just watching a movie (which he would sleep through). He loved cooking, especially holidays with his famous deviled eggs. Donnie loved being a welder and had many other skills he would use to help his sons with their projects. There are so many words and ways to describe Donnie, but we will leave it as he was a Simple kind of Man.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; mother, Donna; and stepfather, Jack.

He is survived by his children, Corey (Gabriela) and Chad; brothers, Steven and Charles; grandchildren: Makenna, Elizabeth, Nevaeh, Legna, Hailey, Corey Jr, and Eason; former wife, Amy Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You’ll have been in my thoughts and prayers.

I have many found memories of Donnie and our time together. I can still here him imitating Gussie with that, “aah, kack-kack-kack.” Camping and fishing was the best. I don’t think the man ever stood still; he was always going somewhere or doing something, except for when he was falling asleep if he sat down. 😉 I am a better person for having known him. I’m sure others can say the same. He will truly be missed.

May God bring you comfort and peace during your time of sorrow and loss.

Donnie was such a great guy and true friend. He was always the first one to volunteer and help out with anything. He worked side by side with Brad on many fabrication and welding projects. He was a true skilled tradesman. He often spoke with pride about his boys and grandchildren and his love of cooking. We will miss him terribly and there is a huge void in our hearts. Prayers and comfort during this difficult time.
