Donald J. Wilson
May 5, 1946 – May 26, 2025
Donald Wilson, loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 26, 2025.
Don was raised in Kelley, IA by George and Genevieve (nee Howard) Wilson with his four siblings. He was a proud 1964 graduate of Ballard High School and was an excellent student, noted athlete, reporter for the student newspaper, homecoming king, and made lifelong friends. He attended the University of Iowa and then was drafted and served in the United States Marine Corp. After serving, he completed his degree at Iowa State University and remained a passionate Cyclones fan throughout his life.
Don married his loving wife, Beth Wilson (nee Yeaman), in 1969. He built a successful career in financial services while he and Beth raised three children in the suburbs of Philadelphia and Chicago. In his free time, Don was an avid reader, golfer and sports fan, and was thrilled when the Chicago Cubs finally won a world series. He loved a celebration and was known to twirl Beth on the dance floor when the opportunity arose, though his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren and grand dogs.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur; sister, Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Beth; children: Amy Wilson (Anthony Sanzio), Megan Kowalski (Ed), Benjamin Wilson (Amanda); grandchildren: Chelsea, Charlie, Mac and June.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, June 4th from 4-6pm at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak Cutler, West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, the burial will be private at a later date.
