Dorothy Ann White
October 23, 1939 – August 4, 2023
Dorothy Ann White, age 83, of Omaha Nebraska, was born on October 23, 1939, and died on August 4, 2023, after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Dorothy was born on October 23, 1939, to Donald and Isabella Brown in East St. Louis, Illinois. Her Catholic faith guided her through her life’s journey. Growing up, she attended many Catholic schools, as her family moved often, until they settled in Omaha. She graduated from Central High School in 1957. After high school, Dot went on to study Home Economics at Omaha University where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. During college she was voted Dream Girl of Theta Chi Fraternity, awarded the honor of being one of the “10 Best Dressed” at Omaha University, and was an Angel of the honorary auxiliary to the Arnold Air Society.
During college, Dorothy married James R. Hannibal, on June 11, 1960. They had four children: Tim, Steve, Lori, and Cindy. Dot was a homemaker and was very involved in the lives of her children. After her divorce, she married Walter R. White, on October 4, 1977. She worked with Wally, but she was quoted to say, “I had the best job ever, which was raising my kids.”
Dot and Wally enjoyed their life in Omaha, especially spending time with their families and getting together with their numerous great friends. In 2000, they decided to move to Punta Gorda, where they met more great friends and were able to enjoy many of their favorite social activities, such as golfing and sailing, year round. Dot was a member of the Platinum Point Yacht Club where she and her crew won the first all-women sailing competition.
Wally passed in 2013, but Dot continued to enjoy Florida until 2017. She moved back to Omaha and resided at the Country House Residence for Memory Care which provided exceptional love, enriched her life and treated her like family.
Dot’s beautiful smile and contagious laugh brought joy to everyone who met her.
Dot was preceded by her parents, Donald and Isabella Brown; and her husband, Walter White.
She was survived by her children: Tim Hannibal, Steve Hannibal (Stacey Schmid), Lori Mandolfo (Mario), and Cindy Lewis (Brad); stepchildren: Richard, Michael and Mark White, and Felicia Collins; grandchildren: Davis (Andrea), Jenna, Halie, Allie (Noah), Mat, Adam, and Rylie; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

What great precious memories we have of both Dot and Wallie. Fishing, golfing but most precious was our weekly Sunday trips going to mass together and out for breakfast after. We were blessed to have them in our lives
Dot, You were always good and loving to me. Thank you for loving my dad, Wally. I will miss you terribly.
