Dorothy was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in Little Italy where she attended Kindergarten. Dorothy and Ed were high school sweethearts, got engaged at Christmas after graduation, and married on June 19, 1954. Ed was a football player and Dorothy was a cheerleader. Ed would walk her home from the dances in high school and sometimes they would go get a hotdog.
Dorothy worked at Mutual of Omaha as a Claims Clerk until they started their family. When all her children were in school, Dorothy worked part-time at Sears for 25 years until she retired at age 63.
Dorothy loved time with family, playing golf, playing bridge, dancing, music and watching football and golf on TV.
In Dorothy’s later years, she and George Mickells, a high school friend of Dorothy and Ed’s, became the best of friends after the loss of their spouses. They enjoyed playing bridge, going to Creighton University basketball games, the movies and dinner together.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will always remember how she shared her love, wit, strength, grace and happiness. I am grateful to have had her as my Godmother. She will be dearly missed! I take comfort imagining my parents sitting around at a table with Ed and Dorothy playing cards, laughing and drinking. I can see all of their smiles. I hope you can too. Peace and love to all as you grieve this amazing woman.
