Dr. Melvin Tatelman

TATELMAN, Dr. Melvin Jul 26, 1924 – Dec 30, 2013 Dr. Melvin Tatelman passed away on December 30, 2013 in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Tatelman was preceded in death by his Russian immigrant parents, Anna Pertzen and Meyer Tatelman; sisters, Sadie Janger of Omaha and Etta Barenblat of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Baylamae (Grodinsky) “Billie” Tatelman; sister, Dorothy Schatz of Des Moines, Iowa; beloved daughter and son-in-law, Amy and RL Lemke of Dallas, Texas; doting son, Mark M. Tatelman; grandsons, William Scott Lemke and Alexander Scott Lemke. Dr. Tatelman was born on July 26, 1924 in Omaha. He was a graduate of Omaha South High School and a graduate of the Creighton University School of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Benson. Dr. Tatelman retired as a Captain in the U.S. Army, having served in occupied Italy and Fort Knox. Dr. Tatelman enjoyed watching Cornhusker football and was a season ticket holder for many decades. He had a rich bass singing voice, was a soloist in the choir at Beth El Synagogue and made a vinyl recording of a cappella love songs for his wife. His hobby was playing bridge. Dr. Tatelman was awarded a Life Master Certificate in 1992 from The American Contract Bridge League. SERVICES will be held Thursday, January 2nd at 1pm in the Schrager Memorial Chapel at Temple Israel Cemetery, 6500 N. 42 St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nebraska Humane Society.
