Duane E. Tubach

Duane E. Tubach

May 31, 1929 – Apr 6, 2017

Duane E. Tubach was born on May 31, 1929 to Otto and Cora (Wallraff) Tubach in Falls City, NE.  He graduated from Falls City High School and pursued his education at Midlands College in Fremont, NE.  Duane enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base.  After 20 years in the Service, he retired and continued with a new position in the U.S. Postal Service in Omaha until permanently retiring in 1989.

Duane married Phyllis Ann Bechtelheimer on November 11, 1951 and to this union were born two children:  daughter, Diana Susan, born on February 19, 1955 and son, Douglas Stephen, born on December 18, 1957.

Duane Eugene was a kind and gentle man who was always careful not to hurt anyone’s feelings and rarely spoke a harsh word.  He had a wonderful sense of humor with a quick wit.  Always a faithful husband, he loved his family, home, old movies, model cars and planes, spending hours meticulously assembling and painting them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis A. Tubach; father, Otto, and  mother, Cora.  He is survived by children, Diana Uhrich (Jeffrey) and Douglas Tubach (Dorothy “Dot”); stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Allan Tubach (Dorothy), sister, Donna Tubach-Davis (Stephen Davis); nieces, Lisa Tubach and Heather Heger Trezise (Art) and family; cousin, Karen Yohe Zimmerman (Julius “Julie”) and family; and many other cousins. Special thanks from the family to Nora Bergquist and Endless Journey Hospice.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE Thursday, April 13th at 10:30am at Evergreen Memorial Park with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, Endless Journey Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
