Clarence L. Dulek Apr 29, 1931 – Jan 31, 2016 Clarence Laverne Dulek, 84, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Methodist Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Clarence is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo; daughter, Sue; two sons, John and Mark; granddaughter, Sarah (Ben) Wendt; great-granddaughter, Iris Wendt; sister, Rosie Alger; many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one great-grandson. Clarence was born on April 29, 1931 on a farm in Thorp, Wisconsin to Leo and Veronica Dulek. He served in the United States Army Air Forces near the Arctic Circle outside Fairbanks, Alaska. Following his service in the military, Clarence was captain of the football team and president of the student senate at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Agriculture. On June 7, 1958, he married the former Mary Jo Schommer in Big River, Wisconsin. Clarence was employed at Wilson Foods in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and, beginning in 1981, in Omaha. He later worked for Beef of America in Omaha until retirement. He was a lifelong student of WWII and Winston Churchill and an avid reader of mystery novels. He enjoyed spending time with his family and assisting family, friends and neighbors with home repairs and projects. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and spending time outdoors running, gardening and bird watching. The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 4th, from 5pm to 7pm at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 15353 Pacific, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Friday, Feb. 5th at 10:30 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or Boys Town.
