Dwayne Olvin Haug
September 17, 1948 – February 5, 2025
Dwayne Olvin Haug, 76, of Rogersville, Missouri, formerly of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Eagle Grove, Iowa passed suddenly, February 05, 2025.
Dwayne was born on September 17, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Olvin and Marilyn Haug. From an early age, he carried with him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility—qualities that would define his life’s journey. He graduated from Twin Valley Community High School in 1966, studied at Iowa Central Community College and soon after answered the call to serve his country. As a Communications Technician in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972, Dwayne demonstrated discipline, intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to duty. While stationed in Puerto Rico, he and his beloved wife, Linda Diane Michehl, whom he married in 1968, welcomed their first child, Todd.
After completing his service, Dwayne continued his education, earning a business management degree from Iowa Central Community College. With his growing family, he returned to Iowa, settling in Eagle Grove, where his second son, Jamond was born. He and Lin then welcomed their third child, daughter Shawna. He was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first.
Dwayne’s professional journey was nothing short of extraordinary. He started as a mail clerk at Ellsworth Freight Lines and, through sheer determination and hard work, rose to become its President. His career in the logistics industry flourished as he led companies such as Silvey Refrigerated Carriers and later served as Director and Vice President at both Werner Enterprises and Gra-Gar Inc. After 25 years at Werner, Dwayne retired to his cherished lake house in Camdenton, Missouri, where he continued to lend his expertise to the industry through his own consulting firm, DOH Consulting.
While Dwayne achieved much success in his career, he always said his greatest achievement was his family. His marriage to Lin spanned an incredible 55 years—a love story built on respect, laughter, and unwavering support. He was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, often referring to them as “the future!” Dwayne was their biggest fan, always encouraging and celebrating their accomplishments.
Beyond his career and family, Dwayne had a deep love for drag racing. His passion led him to an incredible opportunity at Werner, where he helped create a sponsorship program that resulted in the company owning the Werner Top Fuel Dragster. With professional driver Clay Millican, they went on to win multiple IHRA world championships. Even after stepping away from the professional circuit, Dwayne remained deeply involved in the racing world, supporting his sons and traveling across the Midwest as part of Homewrecker Motorsports. The roar of the engines, the smell of burning rubber, and the camaraderie of the pits were all things that brought him immense joy.
Dwayne also loved to travel, whether for business, adventure, or simply to spend time with loved ones. He and Lin traveled extensively, and after her passing, he continued to explore the country with his loyal corgi, Beau, by his side. His presence always brought warmth and joy to those he visited.
Above all, Dwayne loved the Lord. His faith was a guiding force in his life, shaping his values, his kindness, and his love for others. His devotion was so strong that he became ordained as a minister so he could officiate the weddings of three of his grandsons, Craig, Matthew, and Anthony Dwayne. It was an honor he cherished, and a testament to the deep love he had for his family.
Dwayne was a brilliant businessman, a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. His passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He taught us the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy of pursuing our passions.
Dwayne is survived by his sons, Todd and his wife Christina of Moorhead, IA, Jamond and his wife Brooke of Rogersville, MO; daughter, Shawna Rangle and her husband, Jerry of Santa Cruz, CA; sister, Carie Oppedahl and her husband, Pete of Sun City West, AZ; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Michehl) Haug; parents, Olvin and Marilyn (Kinseth) Haug; brother, Calvin Haug.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Dwayne will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha NE 68124 with Vicar Russell Stanislav of Bethesda Lutheran Church, officiating. Rest In Peace Sir, and our condolences to the Haug Family
My deepest condolence to Dwayne’s family. Dwayne made his mark on my life while I worked with him during his entire career at Werner Enterprises. I learned so much from working with Dwayne but most importantly I learned how truly caring he was. I’m a better person because of Dwayne. Go rest high on that mountain my friend!!
What a shock! Dwayne and I were classmates at Twin Rivers High School and roommates in Eagle Grove while attending Iowa Central. I remember the night he met his wife Lin. We both joined the Navy in 1968 and went off on our life’s journey. We’d just reconnected after many years and spoke frequently reestablishing our old friendship. The love and devotion he had for his family came through loud and clear. My sympathies to his loved ones. I will miss this very good man.
Dwayne always had the warmest smile!! My heart goes to all his family, as he will truly be missed ❤️
I have such fond memories of Dwayne! He lit up the room and I can still see his smile and mustache, as if it was yesterday. He had a way of making your day special, no matter what was going on, and I remember the laughter coming from my dad’s office. You knew they were up to no good! Our sincerest apologies for your loss, we are thinking of all of you. We love you Dwayne, you are alive in our hearts and we miss you.
I was lucky to be Dwayne and Lin’s neighbor for 10 years in Omaha. We shared a wall with our duplex. He was the best. We had many driveway chats and he always looked over me while Dan was gone. He was confident, mans-man…and just the neighbor you wanted to have. He was outgoing, wanted to talk and had cool stories. He will be missed. – Paige (Winkler) & Dan Kincaid
