Shepard, Dwight Wesley
March 26, 1937 – August 29, 2022
Dwight Shepard, 85, was born in Pisgah, IA to Ralph and Lucile (Kilts) Shepard. He was preceded in death by brother, Garry; brother-in-law, Ron Moore; sister-in-law, Marcie Shepard. Dwight is survived by wife of 54 years, Lucille (Chrest) Shepard; siblings: brother, Keith; sister, Catherine Moore; sister-in-law, Margaret; in-laws, Dennis and Nancy Butterfield; many nieces and nephews.
Dwight worked for Safeway Stores and was on the Board of Safeway and now Metro Credit Union for many years. He later worked for Fort Street Small Engines and Little Engines well into his 70s using his talent for repairs and loved to tinker in the garage. Dwight and Lucy enjoyed sports, going on ski trips golfing and bowling. He loved his fishing trips to Minnesota with his father and brothers and nephew Steve. Dwight also enjoyed Softball, playing for several years. Dwight kept a manicured lawn and enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden and sharing the bounty with relatives and neighbors. Colorado was a favorite spot and he and Lucy spent many summer vacations there. In the winter. Aspen was their favorite place for skiing. A travel highlight was a Mediterranean trip visiting Greece, Turkey and Egypt, to celebrate a milestone anniversary. Dwight will be missed by many.
VISITATION Thursday, September 1, 5-7pm, West Center Chapel. SERVICES Friday 11am West Center Chapel. Interment Evergreen. Memorials Alzheimer’s Association or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
