Edith “Edie” Charlotte Bay German
October 7, 1933 – October 7, 2023
Edie was born in Gillette, Wyoming, to Arthur and Mary Bay. She had eight siblings with three living: Raymond Bay of Turlock, CA, Merwyn Bay of Blaine, WA, and Thelma Bay Tyler of Phoenix, AZ. The family moved to Spokane, Washington, where they lived for many years. They moved to Ferndale, WA, for a short time and then moved to Maple Falls, WA, where she graduated from Mt. Baker High School. She met and married a neighbor, Kenneth E. German. Immediately after the marriage, Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Subsequent assignments included: Spokane, WA, Moses Lake, WA, Seattle, WA, Madrid, Spain, Hanscom Field, MA, Colorado Springs, CO, Maxwell AFB, AL, Vietnam, Offutt AFB, NE, and Scott AFB, IL.
While in Illinois she became a Registered Nurse and subsequently worked for the VA Hospital in Omaha.
She raised five children; Ken Jr., Julie, Jaclyn, Jeanne (deceased), and Dan, while maintaining a home in the various locations; often serving as mom and dad, always serving as a military wife, and educating herself. She had eleven grandchildren (one deceased) and nine great-grandchildren. She was a happy person and always ready for a laugh. She loved intensely while graciously providing guidance and comfort to her entire family.
Visitation: Thursday, October 12, 2023, 10 to 11 a.m., West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Rd. followed by Funeral Service: at 11 a.m. Interment: Omaha National Cemetery. so very sorry for your loss , I have such fond memories of aunt Edee when we would visit on summer trips … sending peace and comfort to your family (((hugs)))

So very for your families loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you you all. Your mother was a great person I am glad I had the privilege to know her.
Sorry for your loss. Thankful your mother knows the Lord. We miss them but will see them again in Heaven and be with them and the Lord forever.
Ken and family, so very sorry for your loss. Waving to Edie and seeing her smile every day was a highlight when I lived with my folks. Catching up and telling her all about my kids when visiting was just as meaningful. Much love and prayers to all.
Edie was a great neighbor and a truly wonderful person. We’ll miss her smiles and conversation greatly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ken and the family.
