Egon P. Cordel

Egon P. Cordel

October 21, 1945- December 25, 2024

Egon P. Cordel was born October 21, 1945, in Ehrang, Germany to Franz J. and Maria K. Cordel.  He passed away on December 25, 2024.

Egon immigrated to the US with his mother, father, and brother in 1960 joining his sister that had immigrated several years earlier. He attended Omaha North High School and served in the US Air Force.  After proudly serving in the USAF, Egon returned to Omaha to join the business his father founded in 1961, Cordel Foreign Motors.

Egon was married to Kaey, Karl and Andrea’s mother in 1973. Although divorced in 1983, they remained in contact until her death in 2022. His work at Cordel Foreign Motors became a life-long career that developed a deep-rooted passion for cars, but he enjoyed photography and piloting small aircraft for a time as well. His greatest enjoyment came much later, when his daughter gave birth to his grandchildren.  Nothing gave him bigger smiles. The love for his family was everlasting, he even regarded Karl’s ex-wife as a daughter long after Karl’s divorce.  Egon always entertained family, friends, and acquaintances alike with stories of his life experiences, bestowing wisdom along with laughter.

Egon is survived by his children, Karl (Jassalya Villafranca) Cordel and Andrea (Anthony) Cook; grandchildren: Olivia, Aubrey and Chase; sister, Helga Withem.

He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Kaey; brother, Edgar Cordel; and his parents.

Egon may be gone from our world, but not from our hearts. We’ll continue to think of him fondly each day and we are here for you.

Egon was an exceptional person, who was liked by everyone. Both his children and work were a passion of love for him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to both his family and friends. He will not be forgotten. God Bless and we love you.
