Eileen Marie (Berning) Annin was born on June 25, 1934 along with her twin sister, Irene Marie, to Nicholas and Agnes Anna (Kerschen) Berning in Marienthal, Kansas.  She passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska. Eileen grew up on a farm and graduated from Wichita County High School in Leoti, Kansas in 1952.

In 1956, she earned a degree in Business from Creighton University in Omaha and worked as an account manager at Northern Natural Gas for 15 years.  While raising her family, she volunteered in the office of the President at Creighton Preparatory School and at St. Joan of Arc School. Then she spent many years as the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Parish Secretary and was instrumental in the pilot project for computerizing records at the parish.

Eileen met her husband, Thomas Anthony Annin, on the bowling team for the LaSalle Club.  They married on June 20, 1970.  Her children include twins, Gerald Annin (Nikki) and Kathleen  Warren (Shane), and Jeffrey Annin (Mandy).  She was blessed with ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild due in April.  Tom and Eileen celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June 2020.

She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, the Ladies Guild, the Red Hat Society, and the right-hand to Tom as the Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.  A devout Catholic, Eileen also served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  She loved her children, grandchildren, and dogs, Marvin and Fluffy.  She was an amazing cook and gift-giver.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Irene Christensen; brother, Dennis Berning (Jean); and brother-in-law, Edward Neubaum.  She is survived by her children; grandchildren; sisters, Beverley Neubaum and Sharilyn Kawa ((Lawrence); brother-in-law, Lester Christensen; and many nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers who aided Eileen and Tom over the past eight years.

Mom, Ken, and I send our love and prayers to Tom, Gerald, Kathleen, Jeffrey and Eileen’s grandchildren, and to Beverly and Shari. and their families. We have many fond memories of Eileen and especially treasure that last visit we had with her, Irene, Beverly and Shari at Mom’s house before Mom developed dementia.
