MATTSON, Eilert Matt Sep 26, 1930 Dec 24, 2012 Born in Sioux City, Iowa to Axel Edwin and Anna Mattson on September 26, 1930. During his childhood he spent many a summer working on his aunt and uncles farm in Wausa, NE where he enjoyed time with numerous cousins. He graduated from Sioux City Central H. S. in 1949, and soon after enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving active duty during the Korean Conflict. He then met and married Beverly Ann Morris in October of 1953. They lived a wonderful life together until his passing on Christmas Eve morning. His business career started with the International Harvester Company as a regional representative, and then moved to Columbus, NE assuming duty as the General Manager of one of IHCs premier dealerships. Becoming Vice President of the corporation in 1970, he brought his family to Omaha. In 1972 he joined Paul Lucht and Sons in their truck-only body shop and enjoyed a fruitful career until his retirement in 1995. He exemplified an extremely high degree of integrity as his family believed him to be the most honest person one could ever meet. He loved his wife and family: children, Rick Mattson (Cec) of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Deborah Thompson (Dave) of Papillion, NE. In addition Matt enjoyed his 4 grandchildren, Melinda, Michael, Jared and Brittany; two great-grandchildren, Briana and Sam; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a huge University of Nebraska football fan who loved to fish, along with working to build furniture for the grandkids, yard work, and decorating for the various holidays all while caring for his loving wife. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, December 28, 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Saturday, December 29 at 10am, West Center Chapel. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park with military honors by Millard American Legion Post 374 and VFW Post 8334. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Association or American Cancer Society.
